Wireless Influencers 2005 was highly collaborative, and utilized a format of smaller roundtable discussions, working group discussions, and other structured meetings in order to generate commentary and analysis from each participant. To facilitate this, Rutberg & Company and the Board of Advisors formulated a set of five key wireless and mobility industry change drivers, around which the content for Wireless Influencers 2005 was organized:
- Convergence across services, networks, and platforms
- Mass adoption for mobile content
- Digitization of users' home and personal media
- Enterprise mobility, including WLAN and WWAN
- Advent of mobile broadband globally
Importantly, we did not take a position on the change drives, which were designed to be provocative and forward-looking. Rather, conference participants themselves investigated the dynamics around the change drivers in order to directly address industry opportunities, issues, and uncertainties and to generate practical and actionable ideas. In essence, we encouraged each participant to leave the conference with several new to-do items, along with a significant number of new and expanded relationships.
