John Mecklenburg
Managing Director, Investment Banking

John Mecklenburg is a Managing Director in the Investment Banking group at Rutberg & Company. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Mecklenburg managed business development for Ejasent, a startup Internet infrastructure company acquired by Veritas in January 2004. At Ejasent, Mr. Mecklenburg's team closed exclusive, strategic partnerships with technology companies and service providers, including Exodus, Sun, Oracle, and Network Appliance. He also helped develop the company's channel and marketing strategies.

Prior to Ejasent, Mr. Mecklenburg was Editor of Red Herring Events, a division of Red Herring Communications. As Editor, Mr. Mecklenburg directed the editorial content and development of all Red Herring conferences. This included overseeing research and due diligence on over 1,000 private, venture-backed technology companies annually. Mr. Mecklenburg also was the onstage host of all Red Herring events and he frequently appeared on television and radio, including CNBC and CNN. He also was a member of Red Herring's Editorial Board of Directors.

Prior to Red Herring, Mr. Mecklenburg was an Associate at Platinum Venture Partners, a venture capital firm investing in enterprise application software and services firms. Mr. Mecklenburg began his career at Apple Computer's Electronic Media Lab. He received a B.A. in English Literature from Colorado College.
