Joseph Sanborn is the Head of Mergers and Acquisitions at Rutberg & Company and leads the firm's East Coast efforts from our Boston office.

Mr. Sanborn brings nearly 15 years of investment banking experience to the firm. He has completed numerous strategic advisory and capital raising transactions for clients with an aggregate value in excess of $7 billion including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, equity and debt placements, and recapitalizations on both a domestic and cross-border basis.

Mr. Sanborn has advised a broad spectrum of emerging growth companies with a focus on the software, Internet, and technology services sectors. During his career, he has worked on transactions with large corporations such as Honeywell, Siemens, First Data, ITW, Avaya and Dupont as well as a number of venture backed and privately-owned companies.

Previously, Mr. Sanborn was Managing Director and Co-Head of the Software, Internet and Services Group at SVB Alliant, an affiliate of Silicon Valley Bank. He joined SVB Alliant's Boston office in 2004 to build the firm's East Coast practice. Prior to joining SVB Alliant, he was at both Robertson Stephens and Jefferies & Company, where he led each firm's technology services mergers and acquisitions practice. Mr. Sanborn also co-founded the Boston investment banking office for Jefferies & Company. In addition, he started his investment banking career at J.P. Morgan, where he worked with pharmaceutical and healthcare services companies.

Before beginning his investment banking career, Mr. Sanborn served in The White House and the United States Senate. He received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Georgetown University and a Masters degree in Public Policy from Harvard University.
